St. Louis Laser Hair Removal Attracts Cold-Weather Customers
Skin-savvy Missouri women are taking advantage of one of the hottest new treatments in "pain-free" laser hair removal. Board-certified St. Louis plastic surgeon Dr. Timothy Jones finds that more women are planning their laser hair removal treatments for the winter.

ST. LOUIS, MO, December 29, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Winter isn't the typical time for most people to be thinking about hitting the beaches, but a number of Missouri women are thinking ahead for the spring and undergoing St. Louis laser hair removal treatments anyway. Dr. Timothy Jones, a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Genesis Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center (http://www.genesiscosmeticsurgery.net), says that winter is a popular time for patients to start a laser hair removal treatment plan and complete it in time for spring.

"Many women actually prefer to undergo laser hair removal treatments in the winter," Dr. Jones explains, "because a typical treatment plan requires 4 to 6 treatments spaced at intervals of a few weeks. With this time frame, you need to get a good head start in order to achieve maximum results by the time the weather starts to warm up and you pull the shorts and skirts out of your closet."

In St. Louis, "laser hair removal" can refer to both laser and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments, as well as conventional electrolysis. Each of these treatments offers different levels of comfort and efficacy depending on factors like the treatment approach, type of machine, and the quality of the patient's skin.

"At my St. Louis cosmetic surgery center we use the Alma Soprano MX system, which combines a high-powered laser with a sophisticated cooling system to prevent skin damage and significantly minimize procedure discomfort. Most patients compare the experience to a warm massage. While some patients will see some swelling and redness immediately after the procedure, overall the experience tends to be very pleasant."

This particular device is structured to prevent the patient's skin from being overexposed to the laser's warmth, and the cooling system helps ensure that the aftereffects dissipate within a few hours. Less advanced laser procedures, by comparison, can create discomfort that will last for days or even burn the skin if not used carefully.

"With the Soprano," Dr. Jones explains, "the superior technology allows me to successfully treat a full spectrum of skin types. People with darker skin tones - who previously may not have been ideal candidates for treatment - can enjoy significant results with this procedure at my St. Louis office."

In the winter months, Genesis Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center also treats a number of women and men who are disappointed with the skin and laser treatments they had at other practices over the summer. "After a person has had a bad experience elsewhere, Dr. Jones says, "they tend to research their options carefully and opt for a more trustworthy procedure."
