St. Louis Vocalist Celebrates the Real Annie Oakley
Michele Isam is a St. Louis-based vocalist known for her original jazz, blues, folk, and country style. Her latest collaborative effort, entitled "Songs of a Midwestern Girl", observes the authentic depiction of legendary markswoman, Annie Oakley.


SAINT LOUIS, MO, May 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michele Isam, a St. Louis-based, veteran musician is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Annie Oakley's birth by recording music that offers a glimpse into her real life.

"I noticed that she truly doesn't receive the credit she deserves in current historical recordings. Her image still suffers from the depiction that most people recognize from the 'Annie Get Your Gun' play and movie. I want people to know that Annie is a symbol of courage and a true feminine icon, says Isam.. Isam is an established singer and songwriter, playing to sell-out crowds while embracing Midwestern history. On this all original CD, Isam threads history through music and successfully entertains while offering a true educational lesson. She has been researching the real story of Annie Oakley for over two years. The album, entitled "Songs of a Midwestern Girl", honors the famous sharpshooter with a five-song suite while incorporating other Midwestern themes with folk, pop and country stylings.

Michele Isam is a singer and saxophonist who has been performing in St. Louis and nationally for over 25 years. After co-founding the duo, Jasmine and playing to sellout crowds,at the Sheldon Concert Hall, she joined the group, Pavlov's Dog. Since 1990 Isam has performed with locally established blues and rock group, Fairchild, and is currently recording the band's second album. Fairchild member David Torretta is a co-writer of several of the "Midwestern Girl" songs.
